Leytonstone Home
The ground floor of this house was originally a series of enclosed dark reception rooms, a small gally kitchen, and a wraparound conservatory in poor condition. The brief was to convert this house into an inviting and open family home, and we achieved this by reconfiguring the layout, and extending just a further three metres with a new wraparound extension.
The original layout was opened up to create an uninterrupted flow through the house, and we designed hidden sliding pocket doors between the front and rear reception rooms to provide a flexible space that could also be closed off to create a warm and cosy snug room.
The colours and period features of the front reception rooms contrast well against the clean lines and contemporary finishes of the extension. The external appearance of the extension is designed to be sensitive to the original building with the use of reclaimed brick, and a green living flat roof which softens the appearance when viewed from above.
The project also includes a newly refurbished first floor bathroom, and loft extension to create 2 new bedrooms.
